The Tower of London is one of London´s main landmarks. Its construction started in 1078, with further development taking place in the 12th and 13th centuries. The Tower has been a royal residence and a prison and is now a major tourist attraction and home the Crown Jewels. The Beefeaters who guard the Tower are another well known symbol of London.
